The mission of the Program of Adult Literacy Services (PALS) is to provide students with educational and workforce training opportunities to enhance their lives as individuals, workers, and members of the community. Students can access courses designed to support development of basic literacy skills, English-language acquisition, high school completion preparation and short-term career training programs. For more information, call the Adult Literacy Services Office at 240-500-2313.
All students are required to complete testing prior to registering for classes. Students can access upcoming testing dates and times through the links on the START HERE tab. All classes, including NEDP, have no fee. Internet websites and other on-line resources are provided; however, it is strongly encouraged that students purchase recommended textbooks. Students must be 19 years old to enroll in the Program of Adult Literacy Services (PALS) courses. Funding for the Adult Education Program is provided by the U.S. Department of Labor and Hagerstown Community College.
The PALS office does NOT have any access to transcripts and copies of diplomas for prior students. We cannot and will not release any information about prior students or their records. Please make any requests to the appropriate office:
GED credentials previously earned can be requested through GED.com. NOTE: Current testers receive directions about obtaining their diploma and transcript via email immediately after passing the fourth module.
NEDP transcripts or replacement diplomas can be requested by completing the NEDP Credentialing Request Form.
