Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/GNA) & Phlebotomy program for English Language Learners

  • Earn a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) Maryland certifications

             OR

  • Earn a Phlebotomy Certification
  • Learn English (ESL) at the same time
  • Scholarships are available to those who qualify
  • Program is for people (18+) who are learning English as a second language
  • Students must be eligible to work in the US

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/GNA) Program for English Language Learners (ELL)

CNAs and GNAs provide direct care to patients in medical facilities. It takes 12 months to attain certifications. In Hagerstown and Washington County, medical facilities hire CNAs starting at $17 per hour with sign-on bonuses.

2024 - 2025 Program Outline
  1. Healthcare Introduction for ESL I  - April 23rd to June 13th, 2024
  2. Healthcare Introduction for ESL II - July 2nd to August 29th, 2024
  3. Foundations of Healthcare - September to November, 2024
  4. Certified Nursing Assistant Module 1 - November 2024 to January 2025
  5. Certified Nursing Assistant Module 2 - February to March 2025
  6. Certified Nursing Assistant Clinical - March to April 2025

        

Phlebotomy Technician Program for English Language Learners (ELL)

Phlebotomy Technicians perform all aspects of blood collection procedures within an ambulatory or hospital setting. It takes up to 8 months to attain certification. The 2020 median wage is $17.46 an hour.

  1. Healthcare Introduction for ESL I  - April 23rd to June 13th, 2024
  2. Healthcare Introduction for ESL II - July 2nd to August 29th, 2024
  3. Foundations of Healthcare - September to November, 2024
  4. Phlebotomy Theoretical and Practical - November 2024 to February 2025
  5. Phlebotomy Clinical - March to April 2025
