The Distance Learning department at Hagerstown Community College coordinates the development of Master Classrooms to ensure quality and consistency in online course design. The Master Classroom also serves as the version of the course that undergoes Quality Matters course review.
Quality Matters (QM) is a non-profit organization that promotes and improves the quality of online and hybrid course design through a rubric, professional development, and course peer review. To create a free account, navigate to QM sign-in and choose "No, I am new here."
Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR), QM's flagship workshop, is available from the Fletcher Faculty Development Center annually as a face-to-face workshop or from QM as a two-week online workshop. In addition to learning about the QM Rubric and the course review process, participants learn to apply the concept of alignment and draft helpful recommendations for course improvement.
